Samples & Submission
Key questions at a glance
I have visible mould. Which analysis is advisable?
If the affected area is already known, a material sample may be advisable depending on the question. In cases of visible infestation, for example, adhesive tape lifts or further material analyses may be considered. Which method is suitable depends on the sample material and the desired scope of information.
My room smells musty, but I cannot see anything. What could that mean?
A musty smell may indicate hidden mould growth, even if no visible abnormalities can be detected. In such cases, an on-site inspection with moisture testing, material samples or, if necessary, an air analysis may be advisable.
Which samples can be submitted to BMA-Labor?
Depending on the question, air samples, material samples, dust samples and material surfaces, among others, can be submitted to BMA-Labor for analysis. Which sample is appropriate depends on the analytical objective and the respective sample material.
Does sampling need to be coordinated in advance?
Yes, prior coordination is advisable. This allows you to clarify which analyses are suitable, which sample material is required and how best to organise the process.
Are on-site inspections and sampling possible?
Yes, on-site inspections including sampling are possible. These services are provided by individual arrangement and within the regional area.
Services & Analyses
Key questions at a glance
Which analyses does BMA-Labor offer?
BMA-Labor offers biological analysis for indoor environments, workplaces, and as part of quality control for consumer products and medical devices. This includes, among other things, mould analysis, allergen determinations, endotoxin determinations and microbiological testing.
What does mould analysis include?
Depending on the question, mould analysis includes examinations of air, material and dust samples as well as material surfaces. In addition, on-site inspections, sampling, expert reports and professional assessments are available.
Why are air samples not easy to take yourself?
Standardised air samples should be taken using suitable equipment and a defined air volume so that the results can be professionally interpreted in a reliable manner. For this reason, professional sampling is usually more appropriate than simple self-tests.
How long does a mould analysis take?
Processing time depends on the type of analysis. Faster methods can be available within a few days; more extensive culture-based analyses generally require more time. The specific timeframe is agreed on a case-by-case basis.
What is included in the laboratory report?
Depending on the type of analysis, the report contains the results determined, their professional interpretation and—if commissioned—additional notes for assessment. Expert reports or further evaluations can also be added on request.

Yes, on request, BMA-Labor also supports the professional assessment in connection with remediation after mould damage. Which support is appropriate depends on the question and the scope of the analysis.
Can hidden contamination also be investigated?
